Orange Beach, Alabama is a small coastal town known for its beautiful beaches, water activities and laid-back lifestyle. However, as with any place, there are pros and cons to living there. Another user, "John," echoes this sentiment, saying that the "beach is amazing" and that there is a "strong sense of community" in Orange Beach. However, not all reviews are completely glowing. Love it here and very busy - 7/10/2010
There is a great divide I agree but I live in Orange Beach and we are lower middle class and are quite happy. There are several things to do for families and with a population of only 5900 you can't expect major city entertainment all of the time. Yet we do have big name concerts in the area. This is a great place to live but just as with any place, you've got to look around and form a hobby. 'Course I grew up in a one street town Read More

Culture in desperate need of improvement! Recreat - 5/18/2007
This area is heavily populated with ostentatious elitists. It is growing rapidly and, because it is so expensive to live here now, it seems to only be attracting the wealthy. The culture is becoming more and more difficult to tolerate. The political corruption is terrible -- the former Mayor of Orange Beach was recently sentenced to prison, and there are even more charges pending! There is obviously a shrinking middle class in Orange Beach -- there is the wealthy and the poor, and not very much in between. Individuals who expect to earn a living wage in this area are in for a big surprise -- you cannot exist here on the wages which are paid locally. On a positive note, it is a lovely sub-tropical area and the climate is very nice. Water sports and fishing abound, and represent the only saving grace for the area. It is a great place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live Read More
